Klim Jacket Sizing: Does Klim Run Large?

Klim builds adventure and snowmobile gear out of Rigby, Idaho [2], and it sizes like an American brand: Small, Medium, Large, not Euro numbers. That makes the label easier to read than Alpinestars or Dainese, but there's still a catch, and it's the opposite one.

Klim's general men's chart

Klim's published men's chart (US sizing) lists these chest ranges [1]:

Those ranges are wide, about 3.5 inches per size. That's good news if you're in the middle of a range, and it's also why where you fall inside one matters.

Each jacket has its own chart

Klim's product pages carry model-specific charts that don't always match the general one. The Baja jacket, for example, lists Medium as 38–41 in and Large as 41–45 in, and it also offers tall and short sleeve lengths [3]. Before you buy, open the chart on that exact product's page.

Does Klim run large?

Often, according to owners. On UKGSER and ADVrider, riders discussing Klim jackets frequently report sizing down, and the Carlsbad comes up most often as roomy [4][5]. Not everyone agrees. Some owners in the same threads say their jacket is true to size [4][5]. Klim adventure jackets are designed to go over layers, so a cut that feels boxy over a T-shirt may feel right with a mid-layer underneath.

How to choose

Measure your chest under the arms, around the fullest part, tape level and comfortably loose, the method Klim retailers publish alongside the chart [6].
Find your spot in the range. At the bottom of a Klim size with no plans to layer heavily? Owner reports suggest trying the size below.
Think about what's underneath. Riding cold or wearing a heated liner? Stay at your chart size so the layers fit.
Check armor placement. RevZilla's sizing guidance is that riding gear should fit closer than casual clothes so the armor stays where it belongs [7]. A jacket that's too big lets elbow armor slide off the elbow.
Mind the sleeves. Where a model offers tall and short sleeve lengths [3], pick the one that reaches your wrist with your arms out in a riding position.

Euro conversions you may see

Some European dealers list Klim with Euro equivalents. One UK retailer maps Medium to Euro 50 and Large to Euro 52 [8]. That's the retailer's conversion, not Klim's, so treat it as a rough guide.

The bottom line

Klim isn't Euro-cut, so you don't need to size up out of habit. If anything, many riders find it generous. Use the chart on the specific product page and decide based on how much you layer.
